Omigosh. It is ridiculous how long the ride from VA to MA is at the end of a holiday week. What should have taken 8 hours max took us 10 full hours. I felt like Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. No matter how hard we tried we could not get home. Interstate 95 was bumper to bumper with mini-vans, SUV’s, Crossovers, and yes… an actual station wagon complete with wood panels and KOA stickers. My mother in-law had given us tried and true directions for a route that would avoid the Baltimore Tunnel and a good portion of 95. We followed this route but somehow missed a turn and the shortcut wasn’t so short. So we decided to put our faith in the GPS. nononononoooo my friends. This was not a good idea. But we plowed through watching the directional indicator on my dash show a steady “NE” so at least we knew we were headed in the right direction. Finally, we made it to Hartford, CT, the homestretch and were greeted with a fireworks display. Wow, New England really missed us! Oh wait, that’s Celebration Hartford. I tried to take some pictures for you, truly I did, but the traffic and the state police insisted I not pull over in the breakdown lane to get my camera out of the trunk. So here is an image I took out the window after we had PB&J at a rest stop. This was somewhere in Maryland after the Bay Bridge.
