Remember in the Wizard of Oz when Glinda floats into Oz in a bubble? I always wished I could be Glinda, flitting about in bubble asking people if they were good or bad and donning red heels on whatever unsuspecting girl I could find in such a way that it would transform her life and fill her with confidence. Hmmm.. I wonder if that’s why I firmly believe every woman should have a pair of red heels? And, maybe that’s why I love bubbles so much. Today, after 5 days straight of rain the sun finally came out. It peeked in and out of big puffy white clouds. So, of course we blew bubbles. I mean, what else would we do? For Easter my son got a giant bubble maker. And I mean GIANT. The bubbles that come off of this wand are the size of basketballs and when the last bubble slides off the wand there is an audible snap as the bubble tube separates from the plastic. It. Is. Cool.

The bubbles are like fish-eye lenses. Reflecting everything and around them in a  floating orb. I busted out the camera today to see what I could come up with and I have to say I think this is THE neatest accidental shot I’ll ever get. My daughter is Glinda. She is in the bubble. Or at least looks like she is. The way she is holding her hand, poised, as if a wand was in it ready to say “are you a good witch or a bad witch?” And this is not a filter or Photoshop effect. It’s just the perfect timing of the shutter to capture her right in the center of the bubble. I love that you can see the sky, the trees,  and my house on BOTH sides of the bubble. You have to tilt your head to the left and look for the chimney in the reflection on the right, but it’s there! Like a hall of mirrors reflecting on themselves.
