Photo blog day 182, February 11, 2011

As Valentine’s Day is quickly approaching I pulled out our craft box to get started on helping my son to make valentine’s cards for his friends at school. As I looked over the colorful papers and crayons I thought it would be fun to try to re-create a photo project I did with my photo club a couple years ago. A piece of glass or plexi glass place about 12″ above a few pieces of colorful construction paper.  A small steady light to light the glass from the side/bottom and a little Karo syrup is all you need (the light will also keep the Karo syrup in liquid form). Pour the syrup into a design, you can use the tip of a chopstick to spread the syrup into a more precise design, and voila! Abstract art! Try it, it’s fun to see the different shapes and depth the syrup can lend to the colors underneath.
