Photo blog day eighty-nine, November 10, 2010

I don’t know why, I just love this image.  It’s an abstract of an artificial flower.  I read recently about “free-lensing” where you take your lens off the camera and turn it around to create and extreme closeup of an object.  I did this using an artificial flower because it was the first thing I saw and I loved the deep color of the flower.  I don’t usually like photos of things that my mind can’t make sense of.  I tend to like things that hit me in the face with their obvious-ness (did I just make up that word?!).  But this photo works for me.  It just makes me feel good so I’m posting it.

Disclaimer: I do NOT recommending trying this technique outdoors.  When your lens is off the camera you are subjecting your mirror and your sensor, once you hit the shutter, to SIGNIFICANT amounts of dust and debris.  I am not that brave.

Happy Wednesday!!
