Photo blog day eighty-three, November 4, 2010

Over the last couple years I have shot a few weddings on my own and have also helped at a few other weddings.  As many of you who know me already know, right now I am in the process of turning my photography hobby into a business.   One of the things I do when I shoot a wedding, and I see this everywhere with other photographers, is focus on the details.  The bouquets, the rings, the hair, the dresses, the place cards, the wedding favors, and so on.  I am always reminded of my own wedding when I do this.  The reason is I have very few pictures of the details from my own wedding.  This was due to several factors: 1 There was some miscommunication between me and my photographer over what I wanted (both of our faults, I am not pointing fingers) 2.  My wedding was the first for my photographer. and 3. There were so many mishaps the day of my wedding I am surprised I got any detail photos prior to the ceremony and my reception.

For these reasons I spend a lot of time making sure I capture the details for my brides.  Wedding days zoom by at light speed and it is hard to take all of this in, which is why they hire excellent photographers such as myself (well, I’m on my way to excellent at least).  As I have been thinking of all of this I wondered, could I recapture some of the details of my wedding even though it was eight years ago?  We still have the rings (they could use some polishing), I still have the dress (which I THINK still may have some cake crumbs down the bodice), and I still have my shoes.  Wait, my shoes.  My shoes were a special thing for me.  I insisted on shopping several different stores with my then future mother in-law and we finally found the perfect pair.  I did not take those shoes off until my husband and I were in the car at 2AM after our reception finally ended.  I felt like Cinderella at the ball with glass slippers.  So of the details I still have from my wedding day I decided I would take a shot of my shoes and slip it into my album and pretend it had been there all along.
