Photo blog day seventy seven, October 29, 2010

As we approach Halloween everyone seems to be throwing themselves into everything fall.  Houses are now decorated for Halloween and fall with pumpkins, scarecrows, hale bales, etc.  I even went out today and got the aforementioned requisite New England decor.  With a chill in the air and the leaves now pretty much all on the ground it was time to start making fall goodies.  I started with Pumpkin Cookies today.  I was so happy to make these cookies because we completely missed out on them last year.  Something weird happened last year.  There was a canned pumpkin shortage and you couldn’t buy it locally.  Of course, were I ambitious I would have bought a sugar pumpkin boiled, mashed, and strained it to use in baking.  It’s not the same and it’s not as easy.  So the canned pumpkin is back this year and I am content.  Here are the pumpkin cookies I made with the kids today complete with a cream cheese frosting.  YUM> that’s all I have to say.
